3/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
2c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. ground ginger
Additional sugar

Directions:
Directions:
In mixing bowl, cream butter & sugar. Add egg and molasses; beat well. Sift together dry ingredients; gradually add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Chill dough. Roll into 1 inch balls and dip in sugar. Place 2 - inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes or until set and surface cracks. Cool.

If baked too long, cookies can become crisp. I bake 5 minutes on grate at bottom, move to middle for 5 minutes, I set timer for 5 minutes so they will not bake too long....hate burning cookies. I usually double the batch. These are favorites of all the grandchildren. They can feel the LOVE!!
