Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 Pan Cornbread
about 6 biscuits or bread slices or stale buns or french
bread
1 onion (lg) chopped
11/2 c. celery, chopped fine
Poultry seasoning or sage to taste
Black Pepper a lot (This is the secret)
6 eggs, slightly beaten
chicken broth to moisten dressing

Directions:
Directions:
Saute onions & celery in a stick of butter or margarine.
Mix your breads and broth, use your hands, you do not want lumps. Add chopped ingredients & seasonings. Taste as you go, it's easy to get too much sage and pepper. Add eggs last, this is what makes the is what makes dressing rich. It should be a little thicker than cornbread before baking. If you do not have enough broth, add milk. Bake at 350º for about an hour & should be brown on top.

This is how Sassy wrote this down for me in the late 70's. It took me 3 years to get it right!
