Preheat oven to 350º.

Melt shortening slowly on low heat or microwave. Dump in sugar with molasses then whip. Add egg then beat. After the egg has been added and beatin into the mixture, mis in the rest of the ingredients. Form into small balls, roll in sugar.

Place about 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for approximately 8 minutes as cookies will slightly crack on top and should only be lightly browned. They will still look soft but take them out of oven. They harden slightly upon cooling.

This is a very yummy old fashion tasting chewy, wonderful cookie. This is basically how Mrs. G gave me this recipe. She was raised in a logging camp and was a unique wonderful person. Enjoy!
