1 package Duncan Hines chocolate butter cake mix
4 eggs
1/2c. oil
1/4c. water
1t. vanilla
1 small box instant chocolate pudding
1-8oz. carton sour cream
1-3/4c. semisweet chocolate chips
3/4c. chopped pecans
Frosting:
1 stick butter melted
1c. packed brown sugar
1/4c. evaporated milk
1 box powdered sugar

Directions:
Remove a spoon or so of the cake mix and use to coat the chocolate chips and pecans. Set aside.
Combine cake mix, eggs, water, vanilla, pudding mix and sour cream. Mix well. fold in chocolate chips and nuts. Put into a greased and floured 10" tube pan. Bake at 350º 50-55 minutes or until cake tests done. Remove from pan to cool on wire rack. Frost when completely cooled.
Frosting:
Melt 1 stick butter in saucepan. Add 1c. packed brown sugar. Cook stirring constantly until bubbly. Add 1/4c. evaporated milk and cook continuing to stir until mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and add enough sifted, powdered sugar until a spreading consistency is reached. This frosting becomes firmer as it cools, so resist the urge to add too much powdered sugar. Shoot for a consistency that is slightly firmer than runny. Add the sugar to the hot mixture eliminates most of the raw taste associated with an uncooked powdered sugar frosting.
