1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup soften butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
1 tsp. peppermint extract
1 tsp. vanilla
3-1/2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
Red and green food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, mix shortening, butter, sugars, milk, egg, salt, vanilla and peppermint.
2. Then, add flour and mix until smooth.
3. Take 1/2 of the dough and place covered in the refrigerator.
4. Take the other 1/2 and place half of each in a bowl. Use food coloring to make one bowl red and the other green. Then, place covered in refrigerator.
5. After about 2 hours, take them out and start rolling individually until they are about the width of your pinky.
6. Then, place a red or green and natural together. Cut them about 6 inches in length. Then, roll the 2 together. Squeeze the ends and form into a candy cane!
7. Repeat until done.
8. Place in oven on 350º to bake for 10-12 minutes.
9. Let cool and enjoy!
