2 sticks margarine
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. white sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 c. oatmeal (quick)
2 c. flour
1 t. soda
1/2 t. salt
12 oz chocolate chips

Mix all ingredients. Place in glass 9x13 baking dish. Bake for 25 - 30 minutes at 325 for gooey cookies or 350 for traditional bar cookies

This recipe was given to me by a college friend, Colleen Curtin Gable. She made them in college and then baked them and mailed them to me for my 24th birthday. Steve proposed that day and we munched on them as we talked plans for the wedding. We refer to them as "engagement cookies".
