1 1/2 c sugar
1/2 c shortening
2 eggs
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp allspice
2 c flour
1 1/2 c applesauce
3/4 c raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and beat well. Add salt and spices. Add soda and alternately mix in flour and applesauce. Stir in raisins. Bake in tube pan, which has been greased and floured, at 375º for 55 minutes.

This recipe was provided in memory of my Mamaw Minnie. Aunt Eva's notes: Mom's cake is especially good during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. I drizzle a caramel icing just over the top. (see Easy Caramel Icing recipe)
