4 eggs, beaten
2 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening, melted
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
5-6 c. flour
1 tsp. nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Beat eggs until light; add sugar and beat until creamy. Beat in shortening. Add soda to buttermilk. Sift nutmeg, salt, baking powder, and flour. Add, alternately, with buttermilk to egg mixture until well blended. If rolling it out, add flour to make more stiff. Fry in lard, preferably.
