1/2 C. butter or margarine, softened
1 C. Flour
2 Tbsp. water
1/2 C. butter or margaring
1 C. water
1 tsp. almond extract
1 C. flour
3 eggs
Glaze:
1 1/2 C confectioners sugar
2 Tbsp. butter
1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 to 2 Tbsp. water
sliced or slivered almonds
Directions:
Directions:
Cut 1/2 cup butter into 1 cup flour. Sprinkle with 2 Tbsp. water. Mix and form into a ball; divide in half. On ungreased cookie sheet, pat each half into a strip, 12x3 inches and 3" apart.
In saucepan boil water and butter. Remove from heat. Quickly stir in extract and flour all at once, stirring until it forms a ball. Add eggs one at a time, stirring well after each. Spread half over each strip of pastry. Bake for 60 minutes in a 350º oven. Cool and frost with glaze and sprinkle almonds over all.
