4 1/2 c. flour,
1 c. sugar,
3 tsp. baking powder,
1 tsp. soda,
1 tsp. salt,
2 eggs,
1/2 tsp. nutmeg,
1/2 tsp. cinnamon,
2/3 c. buttermilk,
1/2 c. applesauce,
1/4 c. oil,
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Combine dry ingredients. Combine wet ingredients and stir into dry mixture just until dry ingredients are moistened. Chill. On well floured surface, toss dough lightly till no longer sticky. Roll 1/2 dough to 3/8 " thickness. Cut. Fry in 2-3 inches of hot fat (375º) for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Drain. Shake in sugar.
