Ingredients:
Ingredients:
12 vanilla beans
16 oz. Vodka

Directions:
Directions:
Combine the vanilla beans and vodka in a jar tall enough to hold the vanilla beans. Allow the mixture to sit at room temperature for at least a month (4 - 6 months is better) until the vodka becomes vanilla extract and the beans are soft enough to cut the end and squeeze the seeds out for use in other recipes. Add more vanilla or beans, as needed. Discard beans when the extract is ready. The extract can sit at room temperature indefinitely.

If you use a pint sized bottle of vodka, 10-12 vanilla beans would be needed. If you use a standard 750 ml bottle, 15-18 whole vanilla beans would be required. Any less than this is essentially making vanilla flavored vodka.
