Ingredients: 3 cans of cut green beans, drained 1 tbsp garlic powder 8 oz (small container) sour cream 1 can Cream of Mushroom soup 12 slices of American cheese 1 sleeve of saltine crackers (crushed) 1 stick of butter, melted

Directions: Drain green beans. Layer in a sprayed 11 x 13 pan. Sprinkle garlic powder on top of the green beans. In a separate bowl mix sour cream and Cream of Mushroom soup. Spread that on top of the garlic and green beans. Mix it in with the green beans so they are evenly coated. Layer slices of cheese on top of this mixture. Sprinkle crushed saltines on top of that. Pour butter all over the saltines. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes, until the top is golden, bubbly brown. |

Notes: When David and I first married, I needed a dish to bring to a family event. David's mom dug through her recipe box and found this green bean casserole recipe from a far off family member. She hadn't ever made it, but told me it was great when the cousin made it. I made the recipe, adding more garlic and cheese than the original, and it was a hit. I've been making it for every family event now for 16 years, and it's referred to as "Shelley's Green Bean Casserole." Glad that cousin is far away and has no idea I stole her recipe and made it mine! You can't add too much garlic and cheese to this one!
