1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup lard
1/4 cup syrup or molasses
2 cups applesauce
4 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
4 cups flour
2 tsp soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp each cloves & allspice
1 cup each white & dark raisins
1 cup currants
1 cup gumdrops not black or green
1 cup nutmeats
1 package fruit mix
1 cup dates
1/4 cup rum
1/4 cup brandy or sherry

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all fruits with 1 cup flour. Set aside. Then mix and cream together white & brown sugar, lard, syrup or molasses, applesauce, eggs and vanilla.

Sift together flour and spices. Mix thoroughly to creamed mixture. Then add all floured fruit and nutmeats. Mix into batter 1/4 cup rum and 1/4 c brandy or sherry.

Bake at 350 for 1 1/2 hours or more. You may need slightly more flour in batter.
