Crust: 1 box dry peaches, 1/2 c. sugar, and 1 unbaked pie crust.
Filling: 2 c. sugar, 6 egg yolks, 1 stick margarine, and 1 tsp. flour.
Meringue: 6 egg whites, 3/4 c. sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla, and 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar.

Cook peaches until tender with a little water over med heat. Add sugar, mash and cool. Press in the bottom of unbaked pie crust. Cream together the sugar, egg yolks, 1 stick margarine, and 1 t flour. Add 1-12 oz. can evaporated milk and 2 tsp. vanilla stirring gradually. Pour in crust over peaches and bake at 275 - 300º until set approx. Top with meringue. To make meringue beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff gradually add sugar and vanilla. Beat until stiff peaks form. Pile on top custard and bake until brown at 325º for 8 to 10 minutes.
