1 3 lb frying chicken
2 Qt salted water
½ t pepper
2 C flour
½ t baking soda
½ t salt
3 T shortening
¾ C buttermilk
1 bag frozen peas

Directions:
Directions:
Place chicken in water, cover and simmer for 1 hour. Take chicken out, place on cookie sheet to cook. Cut up, de-bone, tear into bite sized pieces. Bring broth back up to boil. Add pepper to broth. Put chicken back in. Add in peas.
Dumplings: Combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Cut in shortening. Add buttermilk and mix. With floured hands pull off small balls and drop into boiling water. Cook on medium for 8-10 minutes. You will know the dumplings are done when they start floating to the top.
