1 lb bulk dates or 14 oz pkg cut up fine
3 tsp baking soda
2 c boiling water
2 tbls butter
2 c sugar
2 eggs
4 c flour
1 tsp salt
1 c chopped nut
2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
sprinkle powder over dates and pour boiling water over powdered dates. Stir and let sit until cool.
Take butter, sugar, eggs, flour, salt, chopped nuts and vanilla mix well. Mix all together and butter pans.

bake for 1 hour in 350º oven, until toothpick comes out clean.
Makes 5 #2 cans or 1 bread tin & 2 small tins
