2 sticks butter, 1/2 c. oil, 3 c. sugar, 3 c. plain flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp.. baking powder, 5 tbsp. cocoa, 5 eggs (1 at a time), 1 c. milk, and 1 tsp.. vanilla.

Cream butter, sugar, and crisco, add dry ingredients alternating with milk, add eggs one at a time beating well after each egg, add vanilla. Pour into pan and bake at 325º for at least 1 hour and 15 min. may take longer in certain pans. Can frost using the recipe on the cocoa box.

I was recently told to be sure all ingredients, eggs, oil, and butter are room temperature and it makes the cake rise better.
