1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. flour
1/2 stick cold butter cut into pieces
2 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

Batter:
1 stick butter, softened
1 c. sugar
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder

Directions:
For the streusel, spread pecans on a baking sheet. Bake at 300º, stirring once, for 8-10 minutes until lightly toasted. When cool, chop coarsely. Mix the brown sugar, flour, butter, and cinnamon with fingers until crumbly. Stir in pecans.
For the batter, preheat oven to 375º. Beat butter, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl on medium speed until pale and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla until well blended. Add flour in 3 additions, alternately with milk, beating just to blend. Spread 2/3 of the batter (2 c.) into a greased 9x13 pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 of the streusel. Top with apple wedges, dot with remaining 1 c. batter (batter will spread.) Sprinkle with rest of streusel. Bake for 40-45 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature dusted with powdered sugar.
