Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 ½ tsp dry yeast
¼ cup warm water
2 ½ cups scalded milk
3 tblsp butter
3 tblsp sugar
1 tblsp salt
6 cups flour
1 cup uncooked cream of wheat

Directions:
Directions:
Put water in a small mixing bowl and sprinkle in yeast (and a little sugar). Let stand to dissolve and get foamy.

In a mixer, combine milk, butter, sugar, and salt. Add 3 cups flour and cream of wheat. Mix on medium for 5-7 minutes. Add yeast mixture. Add rest of flour to make a soft dough.

Remove from the mixer and hand knead to mix thoroughly and check for consistency. Place dough in an oiled bowl. Cover and let rise until doubled (about 1 ½ hours, depending on warmth of house, time of year, etc.). Punch down and turn the dough. Cover and let rist for 40 minutes. Punch down and divide the dough in half. Knead each half, carefully removing any air bubbles, shape and place in bread pans. Cover with a cloth and let rise until barely dough has barely raised over the top of the bread pans.

Bake at 400 for about 40-45 minutes (until crust is a rich, dark brown). Remove from oven and brush butter onto crust. Let sit for 5 minutes, then remove from pans and place on a cooling rack.

Eat with butter and raspberry/peach jam or honey and try to keep the kids from eating the whole loaf.
