Ingredients: 1 cans garbanzo beans (16oz) 1 can black beans (15oz) 5 tbsp. tahini paste 6 cloves garlic (small cloves, or 2 tbsp. minced garlic) 1/3 c. lemon juice 1/3 c. olive oil 2 tsp. kosher salt 1 1/2 tsp. black pepper 2 medium jalapeņos 4 tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro (4 to 5 full sprigs)

Directions: |
Directions: Drain and rinse garbanzo beans. Open black bean can, but do not drain or rinse. (Just use them as-is.) Chop the jalapeņos into small pieces. If you want a little more kick but not much, then remove the seeds. Put all ingredients in food processor and blend until almost smooth. Add small amounts of water for desired consistency and more salt and pepper to taste. Makes 12 to 16 servings, and takes 20 minutes to prepare. |

Notes: Depending on the hotness of the jalapeņos, the finished dish can add quite a bit of kick. I do like the heat, but you can make it with less if you desire. One of our friends who isn't a big "spicy foods" person ate some and she commented, "My mouth is burning, but I can't stop eating it!" ;)
