2 cups dry bread - cubed
4 cups milk - scalded
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon butter - melted
1/4 tsp. salt
4 eggs beaten
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Soak the bread in the milk for 5 minutes. Mix sugar, butter, salt, vanilla and eggs together, then add to the bread mixture and mix well. Pour into a greased 2 quart baking dish. Bake in a pan of hot water in a moderate oven (350º) until firm. About 1 hour. Serve warm with Lemon Sauce. Add 1/2 cup raisins prior to baking if desired.
