3/4 c. shortening,
1 c. brown sugar,
1 egg,
1/4 c. molasses,
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. ginger, cinnamon, and cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Combine shortening, sugar, and egg. Beat till fluffy. Add molasses and beat well. Sift dry ingredients together and add. Mix well. Chill dough thoroughly, shape into 1 inch balls and roll in sugar. Place two inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for 12--15 minutes. Makes 4 dozen "crinkle-top" cookies
