1 cake yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1 1/2 c. milk, scald
1/4 c. butter
6 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
6 c. sifted flour
1 egg, beaten
6 tbsp. raisins
1 tsp. cinnamon, if desired

Directions:
Directions:
Put cake yeast in 1/4 cup warm water. Scald milk and add butter; cool. Add yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well. Stir in 1 1/2 cups sifted flour, beaten egg, and raisins. Add 4 1/2 cups sifted flour. Knead until smooth. Let rise until double. Punch down. Let rise again. Bake for 35-40 minutes at 350º.
