1/4 cup cooking oil
2 lb beef, cut in cubes
1 cup onion, sliced
1 clove fresh garlic, minced or crushed
3/4 cup catsup
2 Tb Worcestershire sauce
1 Tb brown sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp dry mustard
dash cayenne pepper
1 1/2 cups water

Brown beef in oil, with onion and garlic. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover tightly and simmer very, very slowly for 2 - 2 1/2 hours. Serve over hot cooked noodles or rice. (add a little more water, if necessary, if it gets too dry)

This works well on fairly low heat in an electric skillet. Haven't tried it in a crockpot, but it would probably work well.
