1 onion, chopped into small pieces
1 head garlic, peeled and chopped
1 lb lean ground beef
1 large potato, chopped into small pieces
1/2 c. water
1/4 - 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. savory
1/2 tsp. white pepper
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 c. breadcrumbs
1 - 2 tbsp. olive oil
crust for double crust pie

Directions:
Directions:
Saute onion, garlic and potato in olive oil for a few minutes. Then add beef, water, and spices. Cook for about 20 minutes. Remove from heat and add bread crumbs, bit by bit. Remove from heat.

Put in double crust pie crust and bake ~25 min in 500ºF oven.

Tortiere is a French-Canadian meat pie that is pork based. I decided to try to make a somewhat healthier version for those of us that have to watch fat and cholesterol.
