1 1/2 c milk
1 1/2 T yeast
1 c butter
1/4 c sugar
1 tsp cardomom
4-6 c flour
----
sliced boiled eggs
sliced cucumbers
sliced tomatoes
sliced deli meats
sliced cheeses

Directions:
Directions:
Scald milk and cool to lukewarm. Add yeast, butter, sugar, and cardamom. Add flour until workable. (The dough will seem a little greasy and light. You want this.) Let rise about 45 minutes.
Punch down. Shape into roll size balls. Place on a cookie sheet-- (these are more biscuit shaped and shouldn't be touching each other when they bake). Let raise for 15 more minutes. Bake at 350º for 35 minutes. Let cool before serving. Slice in half and make into little sandwiches using the above ingredients.

Personal Notes:
One of the things my Grandma Hunter brought home from her mission to Norway (besides a recipe for canned lutefisk, which I will not share) is this lovely recipe. It's traditionally a New Year's treat, but with the eggs and slice ham, we've incorporated into our Easter celebration. So good!
