2 sticks butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs separated
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. milk

Frosting:
2 egg whites
1 1/2 c. sugar
5 tbsp. cold water
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 can coconut

Directions:
Directions:
Cake: Cream butter, sugar and eggs - beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients, add milk and vanilla. Bake at 350º for 25 minutes.
Frosting: Combine egg whites with sugar, water and cream of tartar in top of double boiler. Beat constantly for 7 minutes until thick and fluffy. Remove from heat, add vanilla and coconut. Continue beating until proper spreading consistency.
