3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
5 tbsp. molasses
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. flour
pinch of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Stir in beaten egg and molasses. Sift the remaining ingredients together 3 times and sift into the creamed mixture. Roll dough into size of large marble and dip into sugar on one side and pat and put sugar side up. Bake 15 minutes in 350º.
