3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
4 T molasses
2 cups flour
2 1/2 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger (scant)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream 3/4 cup shortening with 1 cup sugar. Add 1 egg well beaten. Add 4 T molasses. Sift 2 c flour, 1/4 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. ginger, 2 1/2 tsp. soda, and 1 tsp. cinnamon.

Add to other ingredients. Form into small balls, roll in sugar, chill at least 2 hours.

Bake in moderate oven at 350-375 degree oven for 10 minutes.
