Strawberry French Toast Recipe

12 slices of bread or Texas Toast (if Texas toast-remove crust)
1 c. strawberries, fresh or frozen
2 c. milk
2 packages of cream cheese, 8oz
12 eggs
1/3 c. maple syrup or honey

Sauce:
1 c. sugar
1 c. water
2 T. cornstarch
1 T. butter
1 c. strawberries, fresh or frozen

Directions:
Directions:
Cut bread into cubes. Place half the cubes in a greased 9x13 pan.
Cut cream cheese into cubes. Place over bread. Top with strawberries and remaining bread.
In a large bowl, beat eggs. Add milk and syrup or honey. Mix well. Pour over bread mixture.
Cover and chill 8 hrs. or overnight.
Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking.
Preheat oven to 350.º
Cover and bake for 30 minutes.
Uncover and bake an additional 30 minutes or until center is set.

Sauce:
Mix sugar and cornstarch in a saucepan.
Add water and boil on medium heat for 3 minutes. Stir constantly. Add strawberries and return to boil. Reduce heat. Simmer 8-10 minutes or until strawberries "burst."
Stir in butter and server over French toast.
Makes 1 3/4 cup sauce.

For us I usually do a half batch and use an 8x8 pan. The original recipe calls for blueberries so you can use those instead if you want.
