1/2 C shortening
1 egg
1 C sugar
1 tsp vanilla or cherry flavoring
1/2 tsp soda
3/4 C buttermilk
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 C cocoa
2 C flour
1/2 C chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, egg, sugar and flavoring. Add buttermilk and stir. Add remaining dry ingredients. Drop by spoonful on cookie sheet. Bake 375º for 10-12 minutes. Cool and ice with chocolate icing.
