Directions:Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cream butter; add sugar gradually and cream until light and fluffy. Add extract, add eggs one at a time. Beat well after each addition. Alternately add flour mixture and milk, beating until well blended after each addition. Wrap dough in foil or plastic wrap and chill several hours or overnight. Roll out part of the dough at a time about 1/8 inch thick on lightly floured board. Cut with floured 2 1/2 inch cookie cutter. Sprinkle with sugar and bake on ungreased sheet at 400º 8 to 9 minutes until edges are lightly browned. Cool on racks. Blend Egg yolks together and add 1/2 tsp. water. Divide mixture into several small paper cups. Add a different food coloring to each cup to make bright colors. Use small paint brushes to paint designs on cookies. If the egg paint thickens, add a few drops of water. |
