1/2 c. shortening,
1 tsp. vanilla,
1 tsp. baking powder,
2 c. flour,
1/2 c. buttermilk or sour milk,
1 c. sugar,
2 eggs,
1 tsp. salt,
1 tsp. baking soda,
3-4 mashed bananas

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening (or use butter) and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Spread in greased loaf pan, bake about 1 hour or until done at 350º. (For banana cake or bars, use 3/4 c. shortening and 1 1/2 c sugar-spread in 9x13 pan or jelly roll pan.)
