2 T. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
3 T. cocoa
1 t. soda
1 t. cream tarter
1 1/2 c. flour
1 t. vanilla
1 c. cold water

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the first three ingredients. Add the next 5 ingredients alternating with the cup of cold water.
Bake 20 minutes at 350º in a 9 x 13 pan.

This recipe came from Nelda Eastman who noted on the bottom of the handwritten recipe that when her family comes home she doubles the recipe. She also writes that the batter will be thin.
