1 tbsp yeast
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
4 eggs
1 cup milk
1 tsp. anise seed
1 tsp. lemon peel
2 tsp. Marsala wine
1/2 tsp. salt
5 - 6 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Proof yeast in lukewarm ( 110-115 degrees )1/4 cup water.

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time.

Mix in milk, anise, peel, Marsala, and salt.

Add one cup of flour.

Add yeast.

Stir in flour gradually until smooth and satiny.

Place in greased bowl and rise about an hour until doubled.

Cut into 3 pieces. Shape into a round cake.

Place on greased baking sheet.

Let rise until doubles, about an hour.

Bake @ 375º for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Serve warm with orange butter.
