Butter
2 c. sugar
1/8 t. salt
3/4 c. evaporated milk
1 t. corn syrup
2 squares (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate
2 T. butter
1 t. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Butter side of heavy 2-quart saucepan. Combine sugar, salt, evaporated milk, corn syrup, and chocolate in pan. Cook and stir over MED heat until chocolate melts and sugar dissolves. Cook to soft ball stage (236ºF) WITHOUT STIRRING. Remove immediately from heat. Add butter WITHOUT STIRRING. Cool to lukewarm (110ºF). Stir in vanilla. Beat with mixer until candy stiffens and looses its gloss. Add walnuts, mixing just until blended. Spread i buttered 9x9x2" pan. Cool and cut into 1" squares when firm.
