1 lb. hamburger
5 (I use 10) cups water
1 tablespoon salt
1 medium onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, sliced 1/4" pieces
2 cups very small carrot pieces
1 quart tomatoes (I use 2 quarts)
4 cups frozen green beans
4 cups cubed potato pieces
4 cups (loosely) torn up cabbage pieces
2 cups frozen peas
2 cups frozen corn
1 can red beans with juice from can

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first 7 ingredients; bring to a boil. Boil/simmer for 2 hours. Add green beans; boil 1/2 hour. Add potato pieces, cabbage pieces and simmer for about an hour. Add peas, corn, and red beans. Sprinkle with pepper. Cook for a total of 8 or 9 hours!

Doesn't have to cook that long; it is done when all vegetables are cooked. Can be frozen. Celery and cabbage are important for flavor; soup is "flat" without them. I cut the celery and carrot pieces larger than called for so the soup is heartier!
