8 medium apples peeled and sliced 1/4 inch wedges
4 cups soft fresh bread crumbs
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup apple cider

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine bread crumbs and melted butter. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Place half of apple wedges in a lightly greased 8 x 8 inch baking dish. Sprinkle apples with half of sugar mixture and half of bread crumb mixture. Repeat with remaining apples, sugar, and bread crumbs. Pour cider over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or until brown and bubbly. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

This recipe appeared in Southern Living Magazine, September 2011. Apple Baked Betty is great with ice cream for desert. I have also cooked it for breakfast with coffee for my Sunday School class at West End Baptist Church.
