Molasses Cookies Recipe

2 cups flour
½ tsp. salt
2 tsp. soda
¾ tsp. cloves
½ tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
Sift above ingredients together.

Cream together:
¾ cup Crisco (or oleo or butter)
1 cup sugar

Add 1 egg and ¼ cup molasses.

Add flour mixture 1/3 at a time. *Shape dough into balls & roll in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet or pan – flatten slightly with fork dipped in sugar.

Bake at 350 degrees 10 – 15 minutes.

Makes about 45 cookies using less than 1 Tbsp. dough for each.

*I have found that chilling dough before shaping/rolling is less messy. But you can also work with unchilled dough if in a hurry-it is just messier.
