By now you are probably tired of stories from
beach trips.
For over forty years, Jack, Ray, Jim and I went
to Emerald Isle for Thanksgiving. Our family
week grew, Jay, Johnsie, Dave, Hunter, Pat and
Ellis Hale, and every how many friends Jay
invited. We also had friends join us for Thanksgiving meals several times.

There are so many wonderful memories it is hard
to pick my favorite one. Ray Wall added more to
our vacation than any one person. It is hard to
write through tears because he is so missed.

Ray always cooked breakfast and my job was
to scramble the eggs while he made cream gravy.
One morning I said, "Ray, I think I smell something
burning". He opened the oven door and said, "it's
not the bread". Mean while the odor got stronger.
By now you have guessed what was happening.
Ray, was using a plastic spatula to stir the gravy.
He looked at me with that twinkle in his eye and
said, "Don't tell, it will not hurt to eat a little
plastic". We sat down to the table, gave
thanks, passed the gravy, and Hunter said, "
Papa this gravy is really good'. Ray looked at
me laughed and told everyone what happened.
