2 - 14 oz. cans cut French green beans
3/4 cup whole milk
1 - 10 3/4 oz. can condensed cream of mushroom soup
Pinch black pepper (to taste)
Pinch cayenne pepper (to taste)
Pinch salt
1 - 2.8 oz. can Durkee French Fried Onions
1/4 cup Swiss cheese, grated

Directions:

Combine the green beans, milk, mushroom soup, black and cayenne pepper, salt and 1/2 can of the fried onions. Mix thoroughly in a mixing bowl. Pour the mixture into a 1 1/2 quart casserole dish.

Bake uncovered at 350º for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle the cheese and remaining fried onions on top. Return to oven and bake 5 more minutes until cheese is melted and onions are hot.

Well yes, this is basically the holiday green bean casserole that's on the cans, but I add the salt, cayenne and Swiss cheese to make it a bit creamier and add a different flavor. (Mom insisted I put this one in here!)

Note: I much prefer whole milk in this dish rather than reduced fat or skim milk. If you're worrying about calories in this dish, I suggest you just fix fresh green beans! I love those too, but in this dish the combined flavors and extra creaminess are the thing!
