Notes: When my Mother was only 12 years old, this new cookie swept the nation. It was invented by Ruth Wakefield nearby at the New England Toll House in Whitman, MA. It was introduced on the radio series "Famous Foods from Famous Places." I remember the first time I made them, with lots of help from my Mother. She yelled at me for eating so much of the dough before we got them in to the oven. These are still my VERY favorite cookie in the world to this day. My Dad always said that I would eat anything with chocolate chips in it. He would tease me on Thanksgiving when he would ask if I had put chocolate chips in the stuffing!
