3-4 qts. blackberries
1/2 lb. white sugar
1/2 oz. cinnamon
1/4 oz. mace
2 tsp. cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Warm and squeeze blackberries to make 1 pint of juice. Add sugar, cinnamon, mace and cloves. Boil for 15 minutes. Strain. To each pint of juice add a glass of French brandy.

2 or 3 Tbsp. of this will check any slight diarrhea. When the attack is violent, take a Tbsp. after each discharge until the complaint is better.

This home remedy came from my great Aunt Catherine. It seemed to work then but I won't guarantee it now. It's just fun to read and remember about some of the things we used to do.
