2 Cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 Tablespoon baking powder
1/3 Cup shortening
1/4 Cup dried currants soaked and drained
1 egg beaten
3/4 cup milk (a little less milk)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, salt , and baking powder together into mixer bowl.Add 2 tablespoons sugar. Cut shortening into dry ingredients until evenly mixed. Stir lightly with fork. Only until all flour is moistened.Turn dough out onto lightly floured board; knead gently about 1/2 minute. Start oven at hot(450*) temperature. Cut dough in half. Roll each piece into a round 1/4" thick.Place rounds on lightly greased baking sheet.Cut each round with sharp knife into six pie-shaped pieces. Brush tops with remaining milk. Sprinkle with remaining 1 tablespoon of sugar. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until well browned. Serve hot with butter and jam. Makes 12 servings.
