Grandmother's Kringles Recipe

1 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 c. lukewarm water
4 c. flour
3 cups flour
3 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
3 egg yolks
1 c. luke warm milk
1 c. shortening
3 egg whites
1 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. chopped pecans, optional
1/2 c. raisins, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in 1/2 c. warm water. Mix flour, sugar, salt & shortening in a large bowl. Beat yolks. Add beaten egg yolks, yeast & milk to dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly and place in refrigerator over night.
Next morning: Beat 3 egg whites until stiff adding 1 cup sugar and 2 Tbsp. cinnamon.
Divide the dough in 4 pieces. Roll thin to 14" x 8". Spread with egg white mixture & sprinkle with raisins. Roll each piece as a cinnamon roll. Bake at one in 375 degree oven for 30 minutes. Do not over bake. Cover with icing while still hot.
Icing: 2 tsp. milk, 1/3 cup confectioner's sugar. Mix sugar and milk until smooth. Cover kringle with icing while still hot. Substitutes: favorite jelly, fruit filling, or nuts.
