2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. milk
1 c. cocoa
1 c. shortening (or use oil)
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 c. boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º. Grease and flour one 9" square pan and one 9" round pan. (Cut the round cake in half when done and put on two sides of the square cake and it makes a heart. Otherwise, use 2 round cake pans.)
Into a large mixing bowl, put all the ingredients except the water in the order in which they are listed. Do not stir. Add the boiling water and mix well. Pour the batter into the pans and bake 35 min. or until cake tests done. Cool and hour before frosting with Buttercream Frosting.
