1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup confectioners sugar
1/2 cup soft butter
1/4 cup shortening

Topping:
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup apricot preserves
1 tablespoon butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sliced almonds

Crust:
In mixing bowl, beat flour, confectioners sugar, butter and shortening. Pat into bottom and 1/2" up sides of un-greased 9 x 13 cake pan. Bake at 350º for 15 to 18 minutes or until lightly browned.

Topping:
Beat egg, sugar, preserves, butter and vanilla until smooth. Spread over hot crust. Sprinkle with sliced almonds. Bake at 350º for 15 to 20 minutes.

I have also used 3/4 cup cherry preserves and 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract instead of the apricot and vanilla. Both are yummy.
