For bottom layer, stir together:
1 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. flour
1/4 t. baking soda
1/4 t. salt

Stir in 6 T. melted butter. Pat into 11 X & pan. Bake at 350º for 10 minutes.

For middle layer, combine:
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter, melted
1 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted

Add: 1 egg

Mix 2/3 c. flour, 1/4 t. baking powder and 1/4 t. salt. Add alternately to chocolate mixture with mix of 1/4 c. milk and 1/2 t. vanilla. Mixing well after each addition. Fold in 1/2 c. nuts. Spread over crust and bake at 350º for 25 minutes. Cool. Frost.

Fudge frosting:
In pan, melt 1 oz. unsweetened chocolate and 2 T. butter over low heat; stir constantly. Remove from heat; stir in 1 1/2 c. powdered sugar and 1 t. vanilla. Blend in 2 T. hot water to make almost pourable consistency.
