2 celery ribs, thinly sliced
1 medium onion, chopped
1 pkg. (16oz) dried green split peas, rinsed & sorted
9 cups water, divided
1 lb. smoked turkey kielbasa (or turkey smoked sausage), halved and sliced
4 medium carrots, halved & thinly sliced
2 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced
1 T minced fresh parsley (or 1 tsp dried parsley)
1 tsp dried basil
1 1/2 tsp salt or seasoned salt
1/2 tsp pepper

Directions:

In a soup kettle or Dutch oven, coated with cooking spray, cook celery & onion until tender. Stir in split peas & 6 cups water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 25 minutes.
Stir in kielbasa, carrots, potatoes, parsley, basil, salt & pepper & remaining 3 cups water. Return to a boil. Reduce heat; cover & simmer for 20-25 minutes or until peas & veggies are tender.
