1 c shortening (1/2 Crisco, 1/2 butter)
2 c brown sugar
1 T water
1 egg
2 c grated carrots (1 lb or more)
1/2 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
Sift: 1 1/2 c flour
1 t baking powder
cinnamon, nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Mix ingredients in order in usual fashion. Adding flour, etc., last.
Pour into greased form. Place in refrigerator overnight.
Remove from refrigerator 1 hr before baking.
Bake at 350 for one hour.
